This is the first blog I’m posting on MY FIRST WEBSITE!! I’m very excited about building my website and am excited to see how it all comes together. This is something I’ve always wanted to do, create my own website; however whenever I did the research on the cost for the domain and for hosting services, I was deterred. Then recently the opportunity just presented itself and I didn’t think twice about it. I took the plunge! I have no regrets except that I wish I’d done it sooner. At this point I’ve only scratched the surface and will just learn as I go. I’m not going to let my limitations regarding HTML discourage me. I’ll just dig in and move forward as I intend to accomplish everything I set out to do.
So what was my motivation for embarking on this venture? Well it was a combination of several different factors. It all started way back in high school when I first became exposed to the world of code. This is when I was creating my first social networking profile on MySpace. I really wasn’t thinking too much about it when I added a picture, created an “about me” profile, added interests and of course added all my friends. Then as I dove deeper I started imbedding a music playlist using code, changed the layout of my page with code and ultimately personalized my entire profile using code. I became so immersed in the project that every day after school I would log into MySpace and revise my page in some way. Then as trends go, MySpace was left behind when so many users, including myself, moved on. By then I was getting my undergraduate degree and my time spent on the Internet was for research purposes and writing papers, and well yes, maybe some of it was just killing time.
So it’s safe to say that the Internet became a big part of my life. On a random day when doing some research online the idea of creating my own website occurred to me. But just like every other college student I didn’t have the funds to get started. I never gave up on the idea though and became determined that one day I would create my website. I became even more convinced I would do this when I became part of the recruiting team and saw first-hand how so few people have a personal website listed on their resume. I wanted to be one of those few with a website, and have the ability to show my work to the world at large.
You might now be asking yourself “So you have a website, now what?” That’s a very good question and the answer is I want to use it to show off my photography, write blogs about HR issues and to create vlogs. I want to make a name for myself as an expert and be seen as a professional. I feel that having created a website I’ve made a huge step forward by accomplishing one of my major goals. I’m proud of myself. I look forward to future opportunities coming my way as a result. I definitely want to look back to this one-day and see how much I’ve accomplished. Thanks for reading and feel free to message me with any tips!
